Fáilte/Welcome
Mick, Joyce and staff welcome you to The Derg Inn. The Derg Inn is a critically acclaimed bar and restaurant nestling in the beautiful, historic village of Terryglass, on the shores of Lough Derg.
The Derg Inn is a charming, family run pub which serves some of the best food and drink in Ireland. Our ‘Specials’ for the day will represent fresh seasonal specialities that are available to us at any time. All our food is home made, using as much local and organic produce as possible. We also have available speciality coffees and a full range of liqueurs.
Terryglass has won the national tidy towns competition on two occasions and has been described as Ireland's "most absurdly beautiful small village". It is a great place to relax and unwind, or perhaps take part in some watersports on the lake.
Terryglass or Tir Dhá Glas (The Land of the Two Streams) is an historic villiage dating back to the time of Saint Patrick - some fifteen centuries. A bawn or garrison wall can be seen enclosing the Derg Inn. This was constructed in the reign of Elizabeth I of England to secure the pass of the Shannon against the incursions of the connaught rebels. It is also suggested that the bawn occupies the site of the College of Terryglass.
